2011 - Charter ~ Year 1

The golf outing came and went; what a great time. Let’s face facts, it took a lot of work to get this chapter started and to take on a golf outing was probably the most crazy thing we could do. We went from four potential ASPE Long Island members in February 2010 to more than 30 in October 2011, completed the petition signing, the charter signing and a golf outing, wow that’s a lot of stuff for 18-months!

Never mind the work; thanks to our members who participated the day was a giant success. Thanks aren’t enough to our many sponsors and affiliate members that dug deep into their pockets to fund the event and build a solid foundation for our chapter’s financial survival and longevity. Far too many people to thank individually but the golf outing will be memorialized, as time permits on our website at www.liaspe.org

So what did the golf outing do for our chapter; it raised thousands of dollars to enable us to grow, send representatives to ASPE national events like the symposium and the convention and to enable us to enforce our membership reimbursement policy.

In unprecedented showing of numbers, supporters and society dignitaries the chapter was presented with its Charter. All present were asked to sign the new charter commemorating forever the formation of the Long Island Chapter of the American Society of Plumbing Engineers. The elections of Board members was conducted and the 1st Board of Directors for the Chapter were installed.
